About the Course
All of our programs are 100% free of charge for all youth ages 14-20, and Teach You Media provides all equipment and instruction materials.
TYM offers workshops for schools, community organizations and even individuals/groups who are interested in learning how to improve their technical content-making skills. These workshops range from Novice to Advanced learner. We cover subjects such as camera navigation, framing(composition), film-set language, lighting/audio basics and marketing.
Our workshops are designed to teach youth and adults the necessary skills to create and produce media content. The workshop focuses on providing participants with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in the ever-evolving media industry. The goal of our media production workshops is to teach participants the necessary skills to create and produce media content that is engaging, informative, and impactful. The workshop aims to empower participants to express their creativity, and to develop their technical skills in a low-pressure, non-threatening and hands-on environment.
Teach You Media's workshops are led by qualified media professionals who have a passion for teaching and empowering youth. They have experience working in the media industry and have a strong track record of producing high-quality media content. Workshop participants will gain a range of skills and knowledge in media production, including technical and creative skills, project planning, teamwork, and communication. Our workshops provide a supportive environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and the pursuit of personal and professional growth.
Our workshops range from 1 hour to full 3-day schedules, which can range from 4-6 hours/day. Our workshops are typically on Saturdays through the months of August-May and weekdays/weekends through the months of May-July. We have a strict 2:5 ratio for all mentors and mentees, which means there will never be more than 5 mentees for every 2 mentors.
